Immediate help
If you are in danger right now, call 911.
Veterans Crisis Line: call 988, then press 1. Or text 838255.
Free, confidential, 24/7. You don't need to be enrolled in VA care.
The next move
What do you do when you don't know what to do? You get your battle buddy on the phone. Not a text. Not a voicemail. Talk.
If you took the Spartan Pledge, this is the moment it was for. Battle drill, go.
While you make that call, put distance between yourself and anything you could use to hurt yourself.
If your head is telling you the world would be better without you
That thought is a distortion. It is a lie - it was a lie every time Boone heard it, and it is a lie now. You don't have to out-argue it alone. You need somebody you can trust on the phone, tonight. Not always a doctor. Somebody.
Make the call before the decision. That one call breaks the tunnel vision.
No battle buddy yet?
Then for tonight, the Veterans Crisis Line is your battle buddy: 988, press 1, or text 838255. A battle buddy is anybody willing to save your life. Start there. Tomorrow, name one.

If you're worried about someone
Don't wait for them to call you. Call them. Say it plainly: “Before you do anything, call me. Don't leave me wondering what happened.” Ask directly. Stay on the line. If it's an emergency, call 911.
