Treatments
The VA's answer was a pile of prescriptions Boone called zombie dope. What actually worked, he said on tape - over and over, for years. This page is that record, in his own words, with the receipts.
This is his recorded experience and what the Foundation funds - not medical advice. Work with a doctor you trust.
01
Cannabis
Cannabis is where his recovery started - off the psych meds, off the opiates, sleeping again.
“If I didn't have CBDs, there's a good chance I might not even be here myself.”
02
Stem Cell Therapy
Stem cell therapy is the treatment he credited with saving his life. He had to leave the country to get it.
“About six years ago, my heart gave out and I was dying from cardiomyopathy, heart failure, polycythemia, stage 3 kidney disease. It all hit me at once. And I was in that death spiral. I had six months to live.”
“I went down there in a wheelchair. That's how bad off I was. And after two treatments, two of four treatments, I was able to walk.”
“I went to Reardon's Institute, the stem cell institute in Panama. I went to CPI, Cellular Performance Institute, which you see all the MMA fighters and all those guys. I've done that in Tijuana. They're fantastic.”
“We're talking about taking stem cells from an umbilical cord that's already been used. It's going to go in the trash. Nobody's going to do anything with it.”
03
Psychedelic Therapy
Psychedelic therapy ended a decade of drinking. He was just as clear about how it has to be done.
“I just walked past a bar in an airport. I haven't done that in 10 years. And it meant nothing to me.”
His caveat, on tape
“Psychedelics are typically not something I would suggest people like, OK, go take a bunch of shrooms and sit in your room. You know, it doesn't work that way.”
04
Ibogaine
The one he pointed at for addiction itself - and the one the states are now moving on.
“You want to break the fentanyl habit in the United States? Get everybody through Ibogaine treatments that is on fentanyl, and then that stops the demand. But we've got to be open to this.”
“We've got Texas just passed major legislation for Ibogaine research. Arizona passed major legislation for Ibogaine research. So that will come to America.”
05
Hyperbaric Oxygen
Hyperbaric oxygen kept him in the fight long enough to reach the stem cell therapy.
“I did hyperbaric oxygen. I did about I want to say 80 dives before I went to Panama for the stem cell therapy.”
06
Hormone Replacement
The one he'd tell any medically retired warfighter with a TBI diagnosis to ask about - because on his tape, TRICARE already covered it.
“I pay 10 bucks. I take human growth hormone every day. Human growth hormone stimulates the pituitary gland.”
07
Food & Training
The unglamorous part mattered too: what you eat and how you train.
“Sugar's all bad for the brain, the rest of the body too.”
